It’s magnificent to see a salmon run. A sacred journey when they return to where they were born to spawn a new generation. Salmon is a keystone species.
Keystone species are those who have an extremely high impact on a particular ecosystem relative to its population. Keystone species are also critical for the overall structure and function of an ecosystem, and influence which other types of plants and animals make up that ecosystem. Thus, in the absence of a keystone species, many ecosystems would fail to exist. ~ Biology Dictionary
This box is a masterpiece carved by an Aboriginal artist, an award Distinguished Service Award presented to Thelma Siglos for her remarkable commitment and dedication to the accounting profession and her community from the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia (CPABC)
“The philanthropic work of volunteers like Thelma brings a positive impact on communities and the lives of others. She is truly deserving of this award.” Her profile is published at BCCPA.CA.
It’s surprising to be nominated and given the prestige without knowing that there are people in the community that values your contribution just by doing what you love to do and not get anything in return.
When I heard this, I was shocked with disbelief. Then with gratitude. I said to Thelma: “Hey, sis, God gave you a sound mind, and you have used it well. Well done! Mother is looking down at you beaming with love, joy and happiness. So am I.”
Congratulations to your sister and a lovely way to share your sisterly pride.
Thank you, Irene. I think I am over the moon than her. She’s hiding in the box right now because I have the bragging rights… tee here.
And so you should. I know how you feel – I do the same with my brother.
Congrats to your sister Perpetua! How nice that you’ve honored her w your post!
Tina, Thank you for your kind words. I hope she doesn’t mind me comparing with the salmon. I honor the journey of the salmon. Perpetua
Always proud of you Sis!

Wow. Thanks Lady for the nice kudos. God bless us all!
Cheers,
Thelma
You’re welcome. Blessings, Lady.
A stunning box. What a joy to read about your sister’s work welcoming immigrants.
I want this box! But of course, I have to earn it. Thank you, this is something that I just found out. Now, she is dedicating her time doing ‘apostolic’ works with the Jesuits.
Our priests are Franciscan, but I have read many Jesuit writers. I would be interested in what apostolic work entails. Does she also keep a blog?
Franciscan spirituality is so down to earth. Lucky you. Thelma does not blog. The work Jesuits do is more on discernment and spiritual direction. Here is the link: http://www.jsav.ca/
Thank you.
