All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures, great and small,
All things wise and wonderful,
The Lord God made them all.
Each little flower that opens,
Each little bird that sings,
He made their glowing colors,
He made their tiny wings.
The purple-headed mountain,
The river running by,
The sunset, and the morning,
That brightens up the sky;
The cold wind in the winter,
The pleasant summer sun,
The ripe fruits in the garden,
He made them every one.
The tall trees in the greenwood,
The meadows where we play,
The rushes by the water,
We gather every day.
He gave us eyes to see them,
And lips that we might tell,
How great is God Almighty,
Who has made all things well.
Alexander, Cecil Frances (1828 – 1895) wrote this poem to help explain to children the Apostles’ Creed’s opening words, a Christian statement of belief. She was known to be a generous woman who cared for the poor and opened a school for the deaf with her sister.
Lovely post.
I love this post, Perpetua. Great capture of the humm bird. The playground is lovely, and the last image made me smile.
What a lovely response to the challenge Perpetua – ALL things indeed.
It covers ALL … tee hee … thanks, Tina
Beautiful. Yes, God is wise and wonderful and loves us ♥️🙏

When humans fail me, I focus on the very first poem I learnt and remember that ALL of these little things make a wonderful world.
Have you read James Herriott’s books? ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ is such a good one.
I think I did. I will go look for it again and re-read it.
