Thunder and Lightning

“That is my thunder, by God; the villains will play my thunder, but not my play.” – Alexander Pope

Two black-haired girls spell T-R-O-U-B-L-E.  Little do they know, I can tell what they are up to even though they speak in their own dialect. It’s easy to read minds, you know since I am the queen of Mischief.

Frame by frame, a series of shots put together to capture this story of stealing their thunder by taking over their acts at lightning speed.

I had the last laugh and the best hug from Thomas.

A trip of a lifetime

It’s always fun to travel with children. What they see, hear, and experience with adults is quite interesting in how they understand the events. And where did we go this past week with the kids for forty days? Nowhere in particular. But my sister took her grandchildren along on her journey through lent.

Let’s hear what Layla learned about what happened and how “they” wanted it.

Layla can take her GiGi (my sister), parents and brothers on a trip with her storytelling of her vivid memory

“How many coins Judas got, and Layla said we didn’t talk about money only coins”

Layla knows about the feeding of 5000 people. She knows the 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes and then there are leftovers

Layla knows who helped Jesus carried his cross – Simon of Cyrene.

Layla was asked who wiped Jesus faced . She had to think. She said it starts with V. Then she thinks. and replied, “I know because my teacher named her daughter the same, Veronica.”

With fond memories, Perpetua

Impossible Dream

Man of La Mancha had a quest

Alonso Quixana (Don Quixote) is an aging gentleman who is enamored by and devours books about chivalry. He becomes so absorbed with the subject that he soon escapes reality as he fancies himself a knight, and travels about the countryside performing acts of imagined valor and good deeds. His world, as that of Cervantes, was anything but virtuous or chivalrous.

News worth watching

Every night, I watch the evening news at 6 pm. News are not necessarily entertaining, however, last night was an exception.

The news anchor of Global News BC, Chris Gailus shared Kristi Gordon, Head Meteorologists, video of her son singing “Oh Christmas Tree.”

Watch how Jordan Klawer won the hearts of the viewers and “stole” the show. Listen to every words and notice the hand gestures; this young man is just fabulous. It wasn’t that long ago when he was just a baby.

It would be interesting to see how many views this video will get. In an hour, at 8 pm, there’s already 2,000 hits.

Just priceless.

The Great Escape

Off line for now.

I could be flying a kite, riding the wind.
Maybe in the garden, winterizing the plants.
Or cleaning the mess my cats did, blame it on them.

Or just playing turkey.

Leave your footprints of words of wisdom in the comment section.
Take care, y’all.

Play it again, Sam! Street Piano

Remember the piano on the street in Vancouver I posted here? Apparently, it is a hit as well in Ontario.  How did I find this out? Mainly because of other bloggers that are kind enough to share what they found due to earlier postings. Note: Please vote for Kathryn here.

I came across Michael McNamara performing on my #streetpiano, Foxgang Amadeus.
Apologies for the shaky video, I didn’t have time to use a tripod or set up my camera. I designed/painted it for the streets of #Cobourg, #Ontario for the “Keys to our Town” art initiative. The piano is located at the northwest corner of Victoria Park. Sorab Bulsara carved the ears and stool for me from an old tree stump, using only a chainsaw by Katriona Dean.

And these what people are saying:

Actually this brought tears to my eyes too! Couldn’t believe the people walking by…if only I was lucky enough to walk by in person and have the chance to stop and listen for a bit. And the smile at the end was so beautiful.

Everything about this video is simply perfect! Yes, the quality of the sound/video too! A brilliant artist had the excellent idea of leaving a beautifully designed piano in the middle of the sidewalk waiting for some random talented person to give him/her the chance to give a little show to the people walking around. It’s amazing. Imagine it, maybe you’re stressed or nervous or simply having a bad day and you bump into this. The video makes me feel warm inside, knowing there is people with a creative mind and a nice heart that want to share something with the rest.

I live in Texas.  Micheal is Fabulous!  I’m sharing this, all the way down here.  Love the piano and the artistry of the whole thing. I’m in awe of this piece of art. Truly moving. WOW!

And from the player: Michael McNamara:
Absolutely incredible! Thanks everyone and, despite all the tears I’ve caused to be shed I’m happy so many people are liking my music. I hope to have more to come soon. Over a million hits!

Thank you, Imelda of My Word Wall for sharing this.

The “solution”

Distractions in prayer drive some people crazy.

I simply decided years ago that I would make my distractions part of my prayer and I refuse to get annoyed by my flighty brain.  The “solution” proposed here might work for you if distractions do disturb you.

Pianos on the street and someone will play

It is a project by Support Piano whose main purpose is to change the world through the power of music in Metro Vancouver, BC. Canada. Music Matters!

For the months of July and August, pianos were placed in several locations for passersby to engage in playing the piano and to entertain the public.  It was a welcoming event for anyone to play, record their performance, and join the talent contest by submitting it to Support Piano.

This is the best piece I thoroughly enjoyed listening to.

*** Note from the pianist*** Please go to the link and vote for her.  Thank you!

I am honored you decided to share my video. Any bloggers who have a Facebook, please feel free to vote here at this link! http://bit.ly/1s93lg8

No matter where I go, I’m always going home

Hang on. There are no disappointments or calamities that tomorrow will not cure.

Hang on. There are no disappointments or calamities that tomorrow will not cure.

It’s a dreamy day, a slight dusting of the snow;
The cats are snuggly ensconced on the couch.
On a day like this, I love listening to Rod McKuen.
A writer, a poet, a singer.

I collected so much of his poetry books.
Read and reread it
Pages earmarked on some
Scribbles on the pages of the book
Names of people who I can relate to the poetry
Most of these people are long gone from my life.

Rod kept them alive through his poetry.
It’s kind of silly to keep the memories of the past
And the weight of this is a burden for most times.
I wish I could carry it with a smile just like Buddha
Life doesn’t work out that way, one must let go.
Letting go of the memories starts by letting go of the books.
I gave away all of Rod’s poetry books.

Now I am going home.

“Home is something that you carry in your head
It lives within your heart forever.

And so I know no matter where I go in life
I’m always going home.

Jerusalem: Filmed for IMAX and Giant Screen Theaters

Jerusalem: Video Clip

If you have the time, please view the  breathtaking scenes on Jerusalem today. Don’t take too long, though, for it might be taken off any time soon because of copyright.

After a year of research and preparation, the giant screen film JERUSALEM advanced into production with an unprecedented aerial shoot throughout Israel and the West Bank.

The film will take the audiences on a spectacular tour of the Holy Land and the city once believed to be the centre of the world.

A 7-minute preview of a new IMAX film on Jerusalem. The aerial views are breathtaking and in HD Quality.

A sign of recovery

Video

Riding the BC Ferries from one island to another is always an exciting trip for me especially when El Capitan will announce that there is a pod of whales ahead.

A rare sighting happened on Monday, February 3 when there were two pods in sight off the coast of the harbour in Nanaimo, BC.  The pod of orcas hunted the pod of dolphins and ended up killing two of them in full view of the ferry passengers.

Orcas is also known as the killer whales.  They are the wolves of the sea.  This is a transient group that hunts for  mammals including seals.  The resident Orcas eat salmon only in this area.

With the return of the dolphins and the boom on harbour seals, it’s indicative that the water is recovering  This means that there will be more interaction such as this in the future.

This is the nature of things as  David Suzuki will say.

Totally like whatever, you know?

Totally like whatever, you know?
by Taylor Mali

In case you hadn’t realized
it has somehow become uncool
to sound like you know what you’re talking about?
Or believe strongly in what you’re, like, you’re saying?
Invisible question marks and parenthetical you knows and you know what I am saying?
have been attaching themselves to the ends of our sentences?
Even when those sentences aren’t, like, questions?

Declarative sentences—so-called
because they used to, like, you know, DECLARE things to be true, okay,
as opposed to other things that are, like, totally, you know, not?
They’ve been infected by this tragically cool and totally hip interrogative tone?
As if I’m saying don’t think I’m a nerd just ‘coz I’ve like noticed this; okay?
I have nothing personally invested in my own opinions,
I’m just like inviting you to join me on the bandwagon of my own uncertainty?

What has happened to our conviction?
Where are the limbs out on which we once walked?
Have they been, like, chopped down with the rest of the rain forest?
You know?
Or do we have, like, nothing to say?
Has society just become so filed with this conflicted feeling of nehneh…
That we’ve just gotten to the point we were the most aggressively inarticulate generation
to come along since . . .you know, a long time ago!

So, I implore you, I entreat you, and I challenge you
To speak with conviction.
To say what you believe in a manner that bespeaks
the determination with which you believe it.
Because contrary to the wisdom of the bumper sticker,
it is not enough these days to simply
QUESTION AUTHORITY.
You got to speak with it, too.

Kennel Time

Sometimes, people and animals have more in common than you might think. Blaze, the beautiful young Husky in this video, is obstinately resisting his owner’s suggestion that he go to sleep in his kennel. In this case, the owner is just doing it to tease the pup, but all of us have probably resisted our bedtimes just at fiercely at one point or another. And because he’s a Husky, which is a very verbose breed, it sounds just like he’s saying “No!” (Source: Bored Panda)

Who else would teach me about computer but the younger generations?  Not just computers, I learn so much about life from them.  It gives me so much pleasure listening to their constant chattering as if there is no tomorrow.  They don’t seem to run out of topic to discuss.  I’ve missed out on the gathering on Christmas, and since I cannot be with them, I have privy to their Facebook.

One thing I’ve noticed that the children’s mind is starting to develop and hardly post any selfies.  There are more writings than their faces.  These are some of my favorites.

LIFE ADVICE: One must always order a bowl of steamed rice to soak up the sauce.

LIFE ADVICE: One must always order a bowl of steamed rice to soak up the sauce.

I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH! There was a time in my life when I wanted as many people as possible to like me and be my friend… but now I am proud to say that the QUALITY of my friendships outweighs the QUANTITY of friendships. I AM SO THANKFUL TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU FOR YOUR FRIENDSHIP. YOU DON’T EVEN UNDERSTAND. (God Bless!)

DID YOU KNOW… that the word MERCY in the Bible the root word is CHESED in Hebrew? It means steadfast love, covenant, loyal, faithful, love. So when we say “Have mercy on me” we aren’t only asking for forgiveness, but we are asking that they will continually love us past the hurt, pain or suffering that we may have caused.  (That’s beautiful.)

ithinkimfinallyunderstandingHASHTAGS#   (Almost. The # goes in front. )

Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I’m changing myself.  #changing #yesterday #today

#tomorrow?
I don’t understand the tags. Is that where you are getting your quotes?
#today is better than #tomorrow. I just checked it out.
Secret as to where I get them. Haha. I read sometimes?

The longest walk we will have in our lives is the journey between connecting the heart and the mind #persevere   (deep, very deep…)

Every day is a small death to who you were yesterday. #dailyDeath  (I hope this means you are reborn today?!)

The only things I’ll ever regret are the things I didn’t do and the times I’ve stopped trying. #regrets  (EDITH PIAF. Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien, Subtitulado)

And especially this one: Family is everything.

A Child is Born

christmas 2013

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given, and the government
shall be upon His shoulder; and his name shall be called Wonderful,
Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.
(Isaiah 9:6)

Let’s play in the pit and find what we have in common

Video

Okay, let’s take a break from the thoughts of Christmas.

We are all strangers in the blogging world, right? What can we share about ourselves pretending we are in the pit.

SoulPancake creatively helps strangers connect with one another in this video where they install a ball pit on a random street with questions to ask people who climb in. A stranger getting to know a stranger is a wonderful thing.

My share:  Currently, I have a flipper, too.  It is now two Christmas in a row that I am waiting for one front tooth and I miss eating all the good food!  The dentist promised that the tooth fairy is coming in January 2014.

Your turn.

Don’t mess with old people

A lady was videotaping her son riding a skate board when her attention switched to an old woman trying to cross the street.

You can hear the lady who is doing the taping giggling as she records the event.

The video is a quick one …. but you’ll probably watch it more than once. Aren’t air bags great?
