The area that I work is an artsy place from paintings, photography and sculptures. One particular artwork is very interesting and is in full display at a street corner. Surprisingly enough, the sculpture has maintained its integrity. It’s about the love for three different animals: a horse, a monkey and a dog.

Dog
These are the friends of Emily Carr and she loved her animals.

“I sat self-contained with dogs, monkey and work; writing into the long dark evenings after painting and loving everything terrifically. In later years my work had some praise and some successes but the outstanding event to me was the doing which I am still at. Don’t pickle me away as done.”

Introducing the dog Spike – my majestic American Pitbull Terrier – and Visa, my 2 months old cat. While trying to depict their relentless Looney Tunes style relationship of caring and hugging while fighting and mocking about (countless plates and cups were broken during filming) the best choice of soundtrack was Guns n’ Roses – Live And Let Die
And remember Pitbulls are not dangerous. People with video cameras are.

Footage from a traffic camera overlooking a busy freeway in Santiago, Chile captured a dog performing a heroic act — pulling an injured friend from oncoming traffic.
The video, from Azteca America Colorado, shows an injured dog lying in the middle of a freeway after being hit by a car, while a rescue dog dodges traffic to run to its side. The rescue dog then drags the severely injured canine across lanes of traffic as cars swerve around it.
No motorists stopped to help either dog, but a highway crew arrives at the end of the video.
The translation of the announcer is as follows:
These images seen from the surveillance cameras show a very common situation with our overpopulated highways. It is normal for us to see dogs run over. In the video, we can see this dog fighting for his life because he was run over by the vehicle.
What is very touching is to see the very heroic actions of this other dog who is trying to pull him to the side of the highway. We are going to keep seeing things like this until we find a solution to the dogs living on the streets.”

Other than Lucy, the cat, who helped me get over the brain “silent treatment” Sophie the dog of a mutual friend on Facebook showed me how to relax.
We had a fabulous day of relaxation having our facial. I learned a trick from her how to remove the bags from my tired eyes. Cucumber. That is what I call a cool cucumber. It works.
Sophie’s motto is “every girl needs to pamper herself.” And did we ever. Pure bliss.
Do you have tricks to share with Sophie how to pamper yourself?

Mr. Frenchie, Mr. Polish (Room 307) and Mr. Scottie (Room 308) were in high alert when Mr. MIA took the cat back. The three men keep surveillance on the status of the cat. How can they see what’s happening behind closed curtains? Who knows what’s happening inside Mr. MIA’s apartment?Mr. MIA is a smoker, and he smokes in the balcony. At the same time, he was trying to play with the cat with a stick. Mr. Polish is a smoker as well, and he was observing them across from his balcony. According to Mr. Polish, the next thing happened, Mr. MIA hit the cat. He instinctively shouted at Mr. MIA. Mr. Scottie heard the commotion. And he joined in.Have you ever dealt with a Scottish person? Indescribable. He marched down and went next to the building where Mr. MIA is. He called him a #$%& P-I-G etc. I didn’t know Mr. Scottie knew Mr. MIA’s name? Mr. PIG! Mr. Frenchie came out of the balcony, too. Three against one PIG. Mr. PIG tail between his leg, surrendered and gave up the cat to Mr. Frenchie. In the meantime, the cat is in bad condition. The cat does not want to be touch at all. If you do, those nails come out and will draw blood to anyone who dared to touch her. She was severely hurt. This was the incident that Ms. Room 307 told me. My advice to her was to take the cat first thing Monday morning to check on the cat, and I will help pay for the vet’s bill.According to the vet, the cat is hurt and maybe needed to be X-rayed. In the meantime, she was given a pain-killer, a shot of antibiotics and intravenous fluids. The cat was so dehydrated.
Akeyla – the Nurse
For now, the nameless cat is with Mr. Frenchie. I visited the cat, and she is hiding in the cupboard at the moment. Hopefully, with the help of Mr. Frenchie’s nurse, Akeyla, the nameless one will come around.Thank you all for your concerns, compassion and support. I will give you an update on the situation. In the meantime, we are keeping vigil, including our prayerful dog wearing her head veil to go to church. I will wear my cat scarf to work today to keep the nameless cat in prayers.

This morning, I responded to Daily Prompt: Burning down the house. Should you wish to read my post, it’s titled What Matters Most.Since the post is about fire, I would like to share this story that I received via e-mail that has been passed around. And the story goes:During an early morning response to a house fire in Santa Rose de Temuco, Chile, fire fighters witnessed the unbelievable. A mother dog risked her life to save her puppies from the fire surrounding the burning house, which started because of a car bomb.
The mother dog, Amanda, raced back and forth between the house, putting her 10 day old puppies in the safest place she could find – a fire truck!
She didn’t stop racing back into the fire until all of her puppies were safely away from the fire. The firemen on scene could not believe their eyes. Most people have never seen a dog this smart or this brave!
After rescuing all of her pups from the blaze, Amanda sat down next to them, protecting them with her body. Onlookers called an emergency veterinary service and she and her pups were rushed to the hospital. Aside from one puppy being treated for serious burns, the entire family are alive and well – thanks to the bravery of Amanda! What a heroic mother!
